While international students aren’t allowed to enter Australia yet the Government understands how important they are to the Australian education ecosystem and is doing what they can to be ready for when the boarders are open again.
There is a visa fee waiver for students both on and off shore who had to delay their study due to covid-19 and need to apply for a further student visa.
An exception has been made so students can now qualify for a Temporary Graduate 485 visa even if they had to complete their study online outside of Australia. There are plans to open the 485 up to graduates who are currently offshore.
Processing of offshore student visa applications have begun again in anticipation of international students being able to return to Australia. And DHA is being more understanding of the timeframes around providing English tests, biometrics and health checks.
Working more than 40 hours a fortnight can be allowed for students working certain health and aged care facilities.
